Lucas Baker holds a Bachelor of Music with First-Class Honours from the New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōki, where he studied under Helene Pohl, Monique Lapins and Martin Riseley.

A keen chamber musician, as well as leading the Druz’ya Quartet, he has toured Taiwan and New Zealand with Noelle Dannenbring as the violin and piano duo Koruā, and was a member of the Adam Troubadour Quartet mentored by New Zealand String Quartet and the Takács Quartet. In 2023 he was a semi-finalist in the National Concerto Competition, and has received coaching from internationally acclaimed artists such as Hilary Hahn and Anthony Marwood.

Lucas also freelances as an orchestral musician with various orchestras across the country and delivers community engagement events as the Education and Community Engagement Executive for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Beyond music, he is a certified Acrobatic Arts instructor.

Lucas joins us for our final Festival concert to play Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
