Oscar Luque  began his musical training in El Sistema and furthered his training with renowned maestros.

He has won several international awards, including that of the International Society of Bassists, and has been invited to play with world-renowned orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He was Principal Double Bass of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela under Gustavo Dudamel and also Principal Double Bass Soloist with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra in Mexico. 

He has recently joined the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Double Bass.
